With being out in the sun more than usual, I find myself with dry, flaky lips, no matter how many times I apply my lip balm with sunscreen. It just seems as if they are chronically dehydrated, regardless of how many liters of water I chug down during this heat wave.
However, I recently tried a lip scrub, and now I’m hooked. It’s a complete addiction, and I use them at least once a day. Here is a roundup of my four favorites:
Lipscuff by The Body Shop ($12,
thebodyshop.com) is unique because it actually comes in a tube and doesn’t make nearly as much mess on your fingers as a typical pot scrub does. Contains crushed fig stone granules to gently exfoliate with marula oil and beeswax to moisturize.

Philosophy is a popular brand, and it’s easy to figure out why. They never disappoint with their high quality items at a reasonable price point. Kiss Me ($15,
Nordstrom.com) is an exfoliating lip cream with just enough exfoliating beads to remove the problem, and a minty taste to finish things off. Easily removed with a tissue.

Lip Strip by Laura Geller ($19,
beauty.com)combines organic Brazillian sugar with spearmint and peppermint oils for a refreshing scrub that leaves lips deeply hydrated. It tastes wonderful, but I wouldn’t consider eating it, no matter how good it tastes! We know sugar scrubs do wonders on the body, now give it a try on those lips.

Sara Happ Lip Scrub ($24,
Amazon.com), a cult classic created in a kitchen in 2005 has long been a popular product among beauty editors and junkies alike. Just rub it on in a firm circular motion, then wipe away with a tissue. My personal favorite is the brown sugar scrub created with caramel. Yum!
