March 2011 Archives

This season's top belt trends go to the extremes - attention-getting wide styles or super skinny. It's certainly smart to have some of both in your wardrobe, but if you are looking for a way to show your waistline, wide surplus styles are the way to go. With a bit of stretch, the styles featured below can morph a billowy top, an unstructured cardigan, or even a light jacket into a figure-flattering, visually interesting style.

For a new mom, the memories of the first year, and sometimes the years following, all seem to blur together. Whether you're expecting or not, it's never too late to start a baby book to catch up and compile all those perfect memories and photos in one place that can be treasured for a lifetime. Technology has made it even easier for moms to upload and send photos into books at the touch of a button or if you prefer the old fashioned way, there are also plenty of adorable options where you can write and paste photos. We've found five perfect memory books that will keep any baby's milestones recorded for years to come.

Best cover: Little Lion Limited Edition Baby Book by Rag & Bone Bindery, $69.95, at paper-source.com. The book comes with 24 fill-in pages that are gender neutral like "How Mom and Dad met," "How we picked your name," and also a vellum envelope for baby's first haircut.

The economy may be on the rise, but that doesn't mean you should just throw all caution and money to the wind. We've come up with a few foolproof ways to not only save money, but save your products, too!

The-Body-Shop-Bath-Lily.jpgUse less shower gel with a pouf
Love shower gel, but hate how much you have to use with a washcloth? Well, the answer is simple — try a pouf! We've never seen a shower gel that needs more than a dime-sized amount squeezed onto any pouf, where you may use up to half a bottle on a cloth! An added bonus? They come in every color under the sun!
Try The Body Shop Bath Lily, $3 at thebodyshop.com

Hello-Kitty-Shower-Cap.jpgStop washing your hair every day — get a shower cap!
We know, we know ... if you don't wash your hair every day, it feels greasy and oily. Well, we're here to tell you that if you just let that happen for a couple weeks, your hair will get on board and be shiny and gorgeous for up to 4 days between washes! Just get a shower cap to protect your strands while in the shower in between.
Try the Hello Kitty Shower Cap, $16 at sephora.com

Fresh-Sugar-Lemon-Body-Lotion.jpgMoisturize while your skin is still damp
That old adage about your skin being softer if you moisturize while it's still wet? It's totally and completely true! But there's another added benefit — you actually need less lotion if you slather it on damp skin! Try a quarter-sized amount instead of gobs and gobs. We're serious!
Try Fresh SugarBath Lemon Body Lotion, $22.50 at sephora.com
Don't avoid prints because you think they make you look bigger. Instead opt for a pretty floral print that enhances your shape whether it be a flirty dress, peasant top or a fun romper. We love the floral trend that is everywhere this season and it can look great on anyone willing to try it!

mariah-carey-painted-belly.jpg

Songstress Mariah Carey pays homage to the little twins in her belly by painting her baby bump. She posted the picture above on Twitter talking about her contraction scares and her excitement at bringing her babies into the world. While some bloggers are mocking the picture,  we know it was all done in love, and find it very sweet. We can't wait to get a peek at the little ones when they come out.
