Summer means so many different things but for my family it means Sunday is Sundae FUNday — where we end the day building our own sundaes because our favorite food to enjoy as a family is ice cream. Ice cream is one of those foods that you just can’t eat without smiling no matter how you eat it. If you eat it out of a bowl with hot fudge, whipped cream, sprinkles and a cherry on top — you smile. If you eat it out of a cone and carefully lick the sides so you don’t have a drippy mess — you smile. I also think that the flavor of ice cream you eat and how you eat your ice cream, can be glimpse into your personality.
My daughter, she likes to eat her ice cream out of a sugar cone and her favorite flavor is mint and chip with sprinkles on top. She’s quite the diva when she eats it making sure that no ice cream melts down the side thus making her cone a soggy mess.
My son likes to eat his ice cream out of a bowl with whipped cream, hot fudge and sprinkles on top. He likes everything piled really, really high and likes to watch it melt together and then eats it like soup. He’s usually a messy eater and with ice cream is no different. He never changes, it’s always vanilla.
My husband likes to eat his out of a bowl as well. His favorite flavor is vanilla too made into a banana split with hot fudge and nuts on top. He eats fast because he thinks I’m going to go into his for a bite.
I like ice cream so much that it’s hard for me to decide which flavor so I usually end up with half a scoop of each flavor available. In the summer I love strawberry ice cream, in the fall I love pumpkin, and in the winter it’s peppermint. I also can’t decide if I like cones or eating out of a bowl better so I usually end up with a scoop ice cream in a bowl with a cone on top. It’s really the best of both worlds.
However, there is usually one thing that worries us moms about ice cream — the fat content which is why some of us avoid it. Me, I seek it out, but you’ll be glad to know that you can smile and eat your way through summer with Edy’s®
Slow Churned Light Ice Cream because it’s half the fat and one-third fewer calories than regular ice cream and tastes just the same if not better. That’s enough to make me smile on our Sundae FUNdays…that and I won’t have to increase my daily sweat session at the gym tomorrow.
Now if half the fat isn’t reason enough, you can now join one of our favorite celebrity moms, Brooke Burke, in the A Reason to Smile program where Edy’s is donating $5 to Operation Smile for every ice cream smile captured in a photo and uploaded to the
Edy’s Facebook page. The goal is to give away more than 25,000 scoops of ice cream, capture 25,000 ice cream smiles and gift 500 surgeries and new smiles to children in need.
