Babies

With one kindergartener, one preschooler and now a newborn in the house, you know that I've read my fair share of bedtime classics like Goodnight Moon and The Velveteen Rabbit. So when I stumbled upon the the new BabyLit Board Books that introduce the adult classics of Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet, Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice, Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland, and Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre, I was literally thrilled! Written by Jennifer Adams in simple prose and text that babies will love listen to and that toddlers and young kids can start to understand, these books are a great way to introduce your love of reading to your kids. What a fantastic baby gift for the mom who has just about everything!

Who doesn't love celebrating L-O-V-E?! Valentine's Day is soon approaching and it's time to get in the mood with festive apparel that only looks as cute as they do on our own little Valentines. Dress them from head-to-toe in an ensemble dedicated to hearts and flowers or just add a little touch of the holiday with a fun scarf or shoes. However you (or they) decide to celebrate the holiday, don't forget to exchange lots of XOXO's with each other!

One of our favorite celebrity moms, Jessica Alba, and Christopher Gavigan, former CEO of Healthy Child, Healthy World (and husband of Grey's Anatomy's Jessica Capshaw) have teamed up together to launch a new eco-friendly subscription-based company, The Honest Company. Currently offering two packages, a diaper bundle, $80, that includes designer biodegradable diapers and wipes, and a family essentials bundle, $36, that includes eco-friendly and non-toxic laundry detergent, shampoo, sunscreen, lotion, hand soap and dish soap. To start you create an online profile telling them about your baby and preferences then they customize a nursery for you to fit your style and needs. Each month you can then pick and choose the items you want and need and everything is delivered directly to your doorstep. Both Jessica and Christopher wanted to give new moms and families, "a better, safer start," -- The Honest Company was definitely one way to do that!

When the first snowy, cold day of the winter season hits, kids are usually thrilled. Sledding, hot cocoa, maybe a snow day from school...what's not to love? Eventually the whole scenario of ice, slush and cabin fever sets in and everyone (including mom) pines away for spring. We can't do much to hasten warmer weather so the next best option is injecting a little color into our lives with clothing. A pop of citrusy hue or a jeweltone can help beat those winter blahs, making your little ray of sunshine just that!

It's only the second day of 2012 and already the collaborations for spring are hitting the shelves. Now available in Target stores and on Target.com, the Gwen Stefani designed Harajuku Mini for Target collection has just been released and is reminiscent of spring with the nautical-inspired designs featuring sailor pants, bold stripes and anchor embellished prints. With designs available for infants (0-24 months), boy and girl toddlers (2T to 5T) and girls (4/5 to 14), the second collection is better than the first and will definitely be a sell-out!
Are you over the owl trend and ready to move on to the next big thing? Then you're in luck because 2012 promises to bring a whole new crop of trends and styles that your kids will be looking to have like shoes and t-shirts adorned with mushrooms, making their own toys from craft kits and of course, having the latest and greatest electronic gadgets. So out with the old and in with the new as we look ahead to new a great New Year!

Who can resist an adorable animal hat, mittens or storage bin? No-one! That's why the animal trend just keeps growing!
Chevrons are everywhere right now and is a pattern that looks great on clothing, walls and nursery decor.

Mushrooms are the next owl -- expect to see them everywhere in 2012 from t-shirts to toys!
Even when kids themselves admit it's freezing cold outside, getting them to don their coat, hat and mittens can be quite a task. It's obvious that the problem is that they feel constricted in so much outerwear but what are you going to do when temperatures plunge? Add some fun to the whole bundling-up process with animal mittens, that's what. Half winter-wear and half hand puppets, these mitten styles will keep little ones occupied while keeping them warm. They're so much fun, you may actually have to beg them to remove their mittens.
