Since the 1970s, April has been designated as Autism Awareness Month, a time to educate and highlight Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs). According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), it is estimated that 1 in every 88 children is identified as having some form of ASD. While there is no cure, there are early intervention treatments and resources available.

To raise money and awareness throughout the month of April, many companies and individuals have created Autism Awareness products like the ones featured below. From jewelry to candles to cuddly stuffed bears, every item benefits children with ASDs in some way. It's a great way to start a dialogue about Autism while giving a little back.

Jewelry designers are giving new meaning to the phrase "going nautical" this spring by creating looks modeled after actual sealife. And we aren't talking about puka shell necklaces either. Cast in every metal possible--sterling, gold, bronze--and featuring both semi-precious stones and resins, these naturally-glamorous looks can go from the office to weekend. They are also the perfect antidote for that case of beach envy. Go ahead and wear your Breton stripes and deck shoes but make sure you also treat yourself to a truly marine-inspired item this season.

For us city dwellers, being short on space is something we know all too much about. Not only that but have you noticed that a full size crib is almost overwhelming for a newborn baby? If you've been deciding on what kind of crib to buy, you may want to consider a new crib category all together - a mini crib. Mini cribs are half the size of full size cribs and offer the same multi-level placement of the mattress so the crib can grow with your baby, just like a full size crib. It's the perfect option for parents that would like to keep baby in their own room longer once they've outgrown the bassinet and if you have a small space to work with, a mini crib will give you more than enough room to decorate with. It's also a great option for shared rooms, giving siblings more of their own space to live and play in.
You might not think picking out a diaper pail would be that difficult but in reality, it's a very important decision -- one that effects the way the whole house smells. It's been said that after some time some of the pails made of plastic take on the smell of the diapers, causing the whole room to smell like one as well. Now with the introduction of stainless steel diaper pails, the smell will be limited to the diapers only. The newest one to hit stores is by Ubbi and is not only half the price of the original VIPP stainless steel diaper pail but it also comes in a variety of nursery pleasing colors like soft pink, soft blue, hot pink, purple, grey and white. Registering for the nursery just got easier and cleaner with these two diaper pail options.

Gone are the days of the hard plastic tubs that you have nowhere to store and only fit in the real bathtub for bathing your infant. New on the scene are three tubs that are flexible, collapse  or fold flat for easy storage, and cradle baby for their bathing comfort. The BOON Naked Collapsible Tub also grows with your infant into toddlerhood.  Giving a baby a bath is a hard enough task that it should be more of a bonding moment for baby and mom rather than spending time wrestling a tub to fit where you want it. Try one of these three tubs to make life with a newborn that much easier or better yet, give it as a baby gift to your favorite new mom to save her time and a whole lot of frustration.
